State Police Setting Up Shop At Area Schools

PATTON, Pa. —

Walking the halls of Cambria Heights High School, Sgt. William Bonin is making the first of any rounds. It's a police presence that has administrators and parents smiling a little brighter this school year.

"It's just been a real blessing having the state police here," said principal Time Laurito. "It commands a lot of respect."

Ebensburg State Police have set up two satellite offices, one in Cambria Heights and the other is at Glendale High School. However, the move isn't just to benefit parents: the police and surrounding communties are benefiting as well. The schools are farther north than the Ebensburg barricks so it allows the officers to spend more time in the area, stopping by the school to get paperwork done.

Troopers will also keep an eye on the safety of the students and teachers by patrolling the halls.
