State Police To Start Using Altoona Airport

State Police will soon be using the Altoona-Blair County Airport at Martinsburg as the site of one of its aviation patrol units. Right now, there are only 6 aviation units in Pennsylvania, but State Police admit that using Latrobe as one of the sites for West Central Pennsylvania left a hole in their coverage area. The aviation patrol units search for missing children, hunters, fugitives and even marijuana farms. The other six aviation units are now located in Berks, Luzerne, Lycoming, Venango, York and Westmoreland Counties.
