State prison inmate charged with making bomb threat 4 years ago at probation/parole office

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. —

A state prison inmate in Blair County has been charged with making a bomb threat four years ago that forced the evacuation of a state office.

Daniel Lopez, 32, was arrested Wednesday at SCI Frackville, where he was already serving time.

State police said the new charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threats stem from a December 2009 incident in which a letter sent to the Altoona Probation and Parole Office threatened that a bomb would explode in the building.

It and several neighboring businesses were evacuated until a bomb unit cleared the area.
