Staying Alive On The Road

Sidman —

When it comes to staying alive out on the roads it's all about speed, your seatbelt, and paying attention. That was the lesson students at Forest Hills High School learned Wednesday afternoon. With their prom this weekend, the Adams Township Police Department presented the program, Survival 101, offering tips on how to keep them safe on the road. They talked about how easily and quickly an accident can happen when youre driving and the importance of being careful. While some accidents can happen no matter what you do you can avoid many of them and being hurt in one.

First, if you're driving watch your speed by staying within the speed limit. Wear your seatbelt at all times. Everyone should pay attention in the car to what's going on. Falling asleep can be a problem so be well rested. And try not to use a cell phone while youre in the drivers seat.

Kirk Moss is an Officer with the Adams Township Police Department. He tells Channel 6 News, "we all become careless and we just need that simple reminder to buckle up and slow down a little bit. Give it that extra second and it could possibly save your life. Look both directions. There's no need for aggressive driving."

One thing Officer Moss says is that just by watching how you do those things the majority of accidents and deaths can be prevented.
