According to Courthouse News Service, Anshonoe Mills sued Holmes and the J.J. Whispers Group in Orange County, Fla.

Mills’ attorney, Jacques L. Cooper of Orlando, told WJAC's sister station WPXI in Pittsburgh on Monday that he filed the lawsuit March 24. He had no further comment.

J.J. Whispers Group owns the Rain Night Club, where Mills claims Holmes was drunk and attacked her March 7, according to the lawsuit.

In the lawsuit linked to on the Courthouse News Service Web site, Mills claims the glass Holmes allegedly threw at her cut her face close to her right eye. She said Holmes attacked her because he claimed she had taken his place on a couch in the VIP area of the nightclub and he wanted her to move.

In the lawsuit, Mills claims she initially refused to move, at which time Holmes yelled and then put his hands on her face as he tried to remove her from the couch. Mills said she grabbed Holmes’ hand in self-defense and the two then got into a verbal spat, the lawsuit claims.

Other patrons at the club separate Holmes and Mills, at which time Holmes threw his entire glass of liquor at Mills’ face and the glass also hit her, she said in the lawsuit.

Outside the night club, Mills asked police to reprimand Holmes, but he told her he was an NFL player and that he could not face criminal charges, the lawsuit states. Holmes offered to give Mills money and Mills, claims in her lawsuit, she felt pressured by Holmes and police not to press charges.

According to the lawsuit, Mills said she “made a short victim statement incoherently stating that she was hit in the face and bleeding near the eyes, however, intended not to press charges.”

The lawsuit claims the police failed to write a report. Mills is suing for more than $15,000 in damages.

The Steelers have not yet commented on the lawsuit and it was not immediately known who was representing Holmes.

On Monday, a posting on a Twitter account linked to Holmes’ official Web site stated, “Before anyone decides to state unknown fact please do research 1st. In the end it makes you look like the fool!”
