Stores See Slow Sales Day After Christmas

Tuesday marked the traditional day for shoppers to take to the malls to return gifts, take advantage of after-Christmas sales and put gift cards to use, but many area malls were relatively quiet. Retailers said business had been slow, but they hoped it would pick up later in the day.

Retailers said day-after Christmas business is typically booming, with shoppers looking for bargains and deep discounts. However, this year, local store managers said it was gift cards that are brought people in to stores.

Stores in Altoona also told Channel 6 News business was slow Tuesday morning and Christmas returns were very low.
