Storm Downs Trees In Clearfield County

HUSTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A powerful storm downed trees in northern Clearfield County Wednesday.

A tornado watch was issued for parts of northern Clearfield County.

The storm hit the community of Penfield around 3 p.m. and brought high winds, heavy rain and hail.

Many trees were downed along Route 153 in Huston Township.

PennDOT officials said no roads were closed during the storm.

In addition, Penelec officials said only 40 people lost power Wednesday afternoon.

Residents said the storm was similar to a tornado that hit the area back in the 1980s.

"It was real quiet before the storm hit," said Michele Wensel. "It would rain for a while and then stop."

That tornado, in 1985, damaged Parker Dam State Park.
