Stoystown Fire Department Gets New Truck, Equipment

STOYSTOWN, Pa. —

A new federal grant will allow the Stoystown Fire Department to replace some of their aging equipment.

The last truck they bought new was in 1954.

After applying for grants, they received their wish. The Federal Emergency Management Agency gave them $237,000 toward a new truck.

The truck cost around $320,000, so to make up the difference they saved every penny from fundraisers and events over the years.

They also got a grant they applied for in 1997 for equipment.

Now the crew has a brand new truck, plus all of the suits, helmets and air packs to go with it.

Sunday they're holding a ceremony to recognize the new truck and everyone in the community is invited.

It starts at 3:30 p.m. at the fire station in Stoystown.
