Students Help One Of Their Own

Gallitzin —

Students and teachers at Penn Cambria Middle School in Cambria County raised money for the Thompson family. 13-year-old Kristen Thompson suffers from a tumor and needs a liver transplant. She has been in and out of hospitals since spring. In that time a fire damaged her family's home. Kristen's classmate and the after school program put together a baking fundraiser raising $77. A local business in Loretto also donated food for Christmas.

Kristen tells Channel 6 News, At least I know they actually noticed me. I didn't think anyone did.

Cody Williams, Kristens classmate, started everything. He says, I wanted her to have a good Christmas. She is going through a lot of stuff right now. I wanted to make her happy for Christmas morning and Christmas day.

Kristens family also needs building supplies as they recover from the house fire. You can call the Northern Family Center in Ebensburg at 1-800-472-1899 to find out how you can help.
