By WJAC Web Staff

A man accused of killing a Meyersdale teen was captured in Louisiana early Wednesday, state police said.

Jonathan William Beal, 23, of Scratch Hill Road in Meyersdale, is charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 19-year-old Justine Jackson.

The U.S. Marshals Service and the Jefferson Parish, La., Sheriff's Office found Beal around 6:45 a.m. n Marrero, a suburb of New Orleans.

According to state police in Somerset County, Beal was found hiding in a bathroom and taken into custody. He was being processed and detained in Jefferson Parish pending extradition back to Somerset County.

Beal left the area after investigators interviewed him about Jackson's remains being found. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Tuesday, when he was charged in connection with Jackson's death.

Jackson was reported missing on Oct. 26 and was last seen on Sept. 14. Her remains were found on Sunday along the Great Allegheny Passage in Larimer Township, Somerset County. Investigators said Jackson was strangled and buried in a shallow grave near the trail.

Police said Beal was the last person seen with Jackson, who was last seen walking along Glade City Road, less than a mile from where her remains were found. Police said Beal told them he ended his relationship with Jackson and acknowledged being with her in that area the day she died.

Officials with U.S. Marshals Service of the Western District said, after Pennsylvania State Police charged Beal on Tuesday with Jackson's slaying and issued an arrest warrant, police notified the local Fugitive Task Force.

U.S. Marshals said it was through a series of interviews on Tuesday that they were able to track Beal to Louisiana. The task force then worked with its office in New Orleans, who found Beal in Marrero.

Marshals said they are unaware of any link between Beal and Louisiana. They said they believe he was just trying to flee Pennsylvania.
