Johnstown city leaders say they expect to award a contract for the demolition of the century-old Swank building in two weeks, and the structure could be gone by June 1. Once the contract is awarded March 9, the low bidder will have 60 days to tear down the building. The Swank building has been condemned for years and its crumbling condition has forced city officials to close neighboring streets as a safety precaution.
