Tax Deadline Day

Johnstown —

April 15th is the one day where you either pay up to Uncle Sam or he owes you. Either way, it's now the job of the post office to get your taxes in. The line at the office in Johnstown stayed busy most of the day. But a lot of the filing activity is on the Internet. 63% of taxpayers are e-filing now. Up from 5% last year. And a lot of payments are being done by credit card to spread it out. Either way, there are always procastinators.

Andrea Riek of Johnstown is one of them. She tells Channel 6 News, "I had to pay this year so I figured, wait until the very last minute rather than getting a refund and doing it right away."

Dick DelSignore of Johnstown says he, "got an extension. It's a little complicated and our accountant puts in for an extension."

The Johnstown Post Office is open until 6pm. The lobby is open 24 hours so you can drop off you returns in the drop box.
