Technology On Display At Showcase For Commerce

More than 170 companies are set to participate in this year's Showcase For Commerce, a working trade and industry expo.

The Showcase For Commerce has led directly to more than $3 billion in contracts to local companies in the last 10 years.

Rep. John Murtha was at the Johnstown War Memorial Thursday morning, greeting new and familiar faces at the showcase.

Dozens of large multinational defense firms are represented this year and are seeking subcontractors and suppliers from the local area.

Among the types of firms are those specializing in advance technology research and development, health care, financial services and tourism.

Officials have said that lucrative government contracts are landed at the annual showcase.

The event starts at 6 p.m. The exhibits will be open to the public on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stay with WJACTV.com and WJAC-TV News for continuing coverage.
