Teen Crime Spree Suspects In Police Custody

After a six-day manhunt, both teens suspected in a series of vehicle thefts are in police custody.

The boys are suspected of more than a dozen vehicle thefts in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.

One of the 17-year-old suspects, who is from Meyersdale, was captured around 11 a.m. Thursday. State police and Summit Township police in Somerset County said they found the teen on a bike trail.

The other boy, who is from Dunlo, escaped from police a handful of times. On Wednesday, Johnstown police found him hiding in an attic.

Police Chief Craig Foust said police surrounded a house in Moxham and brought in a K-9 unit to find him. The teen and a woman were taken into custody, and Foust said the woman will soon face hindering charges because she knew the suspect was hiding there.

The teens' arrests are a big relief for many police agencies. Wednesday, Forest Hills Area School District was locked down as a precaution because one of the suspects used to attend school there.
