Teen Hit By Van

Cambria County —

A 15-year-old girl was crossing Franklin Street near Roxbury Park in Johnstown Tuesday morning when she was hit. The victim was rushed to Memorial Medical Center where she underwent surgery. Businesses along that stretch of Franklin Street say speeding has been a problem and they aren't surprised someone got hurt.

"Everybody goes down there at least 50,55 miles an hour. If we could get a stop light out here at this corner, I think it would really slow the traffic down and be helpful," says local worker Joe Sanson.

Johnstown Police say the driver of the van, Shannon Dykeman of Johnstown, was questioned and it is still unclear whether or not speed was a factor. The victim's identity has not been released.
