John David Dawson, 61, of Florida, is on trial in Somerset County in connection with the homicide of his wife, Kathleen, in 1981.

On Wednesday, the jury had a chance to hear from the Dawson's former friends.

Douglas and Kathleen Bowser talked about conversations and things that happened before and after the slaying.

Douglas recalled a burn mark on John Dawson's face covered up with makeup the day of Kathleen's funeral. Douglas told jurors the burn could have resulted from their work on cars or anything else.

Douglas also recalled a conversation where he asked John is he killed Kathy. Douglas said John's response was, "No matter what I did or didn't do I'll have to live with it."

Douglas also said the two joked about knocking off their ladies.

Kathleen Bowser took the stand and recalled the same conversation, but went into how her friend Kathleen was a sincere and religious person.

Bowser also said she remembers John calling their house letting them know Kathleen would be by to pick something up and then getting a second phone call asking if she every showed.

On Tuesday, the jury heard testimony from a forensic pathologist who explained exactly how Kathleen Dawson died and a Pennsylvania state trooper showed the jury pictures of the crime scene. Officials testified there were no fingerprints on the murder weapon.

Dawson is accused of beating his wife then burning her body in a car in Conemaugh Township.
