Thanksgiving Travel, Snow, And Driving Cause Problems

SOMERSET COUNTY —

The heavy snowfall has made hazardous driving conditions in many areas tonight because of the numerous traffic accidents; State Police don't want you to travel if you don't have to. But for many traveling for thanksgiving, staying at home isn't an option.

Below freezing temperatures, wind, and snow can make traveling treacherous. But some feel it adds to the holiday.

This is great. We're loving it. It's fun, were on a road trip, truck's packed, says traveler Henry Trebe.

The day before thanksgiving is typically the most traveled day of the year.

All you see are either headlights or taillights, that's all you see, says Henry.

It's real good up to this point. But you can actually tell it slowing down, adds fellow traveler Bob Tabernik.

Fortunately many of these folks got the warnings of the upcoming weather and abundance of cars.

My wife like lives, eats, sleeps, breathes the weather forecast, says Bob.

But allowing extra drive time isn't always an option.

Unfortunately we had to work so we couldn't leave until we finished with work, says Bobs wife Debbie.

The snow is great for nostalgia and as long as you drive carefully it just may make this Thanksgiving one to remember.

We packed goodies, we have snow pants, blankets. I'm from Chicago, so Im used to lake effect snow, says Henry.

We're worried, but we're not in a hurry so we can go real slow and get there safely, adds Bob.
