Thanksgiving Travelers Finding Other Ways To Get Places

While gas prices have dropped, snowy weather may be deterring some local drivers from hitting the highways.

A winter weather advisory for the local area was in effect Wednesday, but people were still finding other ways to get places on what is traditionally the busiest travel day of the year.

Amtrak officials said they were seeing a record amount of riders. The first train to stop in Johnstown heading to New York was sold out with just more than 500 passengers. There were still a couple of seats left on Amtrak’s train departing for New York at 6 p.m.

Some travelers said they stopped taking airlines because of expensive fees tacked on to ticket prices.
