The Best High-Heel Shoes For Women

Women are always looking for fashionable work shoes that are comfortable, but dont look too dowdy. Thats why the Good Housekeeping Institute stepped out to find the 'comfiest' pumps for this fall. Afterall, for many women, it's all about the shoes.

To get some shoes with cushioned soles in it, that would be a plus, says one shopper. You definitely need a comfortable shoe, adds another. Comfort is the most important thing, says a woman on her way to work.

Five major brands are claiming that their shoes have so-called comfort properties. So the Good Housekeeping Institute put them to the test.

"Contrary to popular belief, comfortable shoes dont have to be dowdy," says Kathleen Huddy, Textiles Director, Good Housekeeping Institute. "We saw trendy shoes that were very comfortable and ranged in price from $70 to $330, so you have a choice.

The Good Housekeeping Institute rounded up volunteers to wear each style from each brand for eight hours, to get a real world evaluation. The women had to walk on concrete, carpet, tile, and up stairs.

"There were two pairs that tied as nine to five favorites," says Huddy. "They were both from Easy Spirit. One was called Larissa and the other was called Felicidad and they were both $89."

There was a lot of padding in the sole. And, because it was wider than the shoe I normally wear, very comfortable, says Bonnie Gibbs, Shoe Tester.

These were amazing. And theyre very stylish. So, I was very happy with them, says Sara Rad, Shoe Tester.

Aerosoles' Tip Top shoes were also considered comfortable.

"This shoe has a special design that cradles your arch for more comfort, says Huddy.

For a splurge, Good Housekeeping suggests Nota Bene's Rosalind heels. They're $265, but the double layer of fancy memory foam acts as a shock absorber. So the shoes are very comfortable.

Another tip, Good Housekeeping says the best time to shop for high-heel shoes is after 4 p.m. That's because women's feet tend to sweep up during the day. If you buy shoes in the morning, they might be too small to wear in the afternoon.
