The To Know About Fireworks

EBENSBURG, Pa —

Every Fourth of July it is the same scene, with fireworks being sold everywhere. Although consumer fire works may be the safest that they have been in years, there are still potential risks to be aware of, even with the sparklers.

John Hawksworths, assistant fire chief of Dauntless fire company, said, "The sparklers that are out there now that people are using-they don't always understand that they burn twice. When it burns off the wick the mettle of it is hot, that is thrown into the garbage can, can start a fire."

Fire officials say many people who take part in celebrating the summer holidays using fireworks do not always read the instructions as carefully as they should. Officials recommend a few simple reminders can help keep both you and your family safe.

For example: Do not light any type of firework in or near a building Keep water close by Do NOT combine different types of fireworks

Officials are asking that you if use fireworks, only use them as directed.
