Theft Causes Setback For Clearfield County Organization

CLEARFIELD, Pa. —

Every year, around 75 girls receive prom dresses from the "Prom Closet" program at Central Pennsylvania Community Action.

The organization, based in Clearfield, stores the dresses in the basement of the Dimeling building.

Twenty dresses were recently stolen from the building.

Officials said the dresses were stored in large plastic containers.

That building is a senior citizen apartment building, and officials said it wouldn't look unusual if someone walked out of the building with one of the containers.

They added that the dresses were all plus sizes and were purchased at discount prices after last year's prom.

The "Prom Closet" program does accept lightly used dresses.

Anyone with information on the theft should call Central Pennsylvania Community Action at (814) 765-1551.
