Toddler Found Alone On Johnstown Sidewalk

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Police found a young child wandering alone at 10 a.m. Thursday along Ferndale Avenue in Johnstown.

Police said the toddler got out of his home while his caretaker fell asleep.

A tractor trailer truck driver noticed the child running along the sidewalk, as if following his rig and when the baby stepped toward the street, the driver stopped his truck, got out and took the child to a nearby home where a call was placed to 911 for help.

When police arrived, it took some time before they could locate the child's home. Eventually, a man came out of a home, when he realized the little boy wasn't in the home.

Police said the boy got through a child safety gate and opened two doors to get outside.

The boy was returned to his caretaker and police are turning the case over children and youth services.
