Toddler Rescued From Cambria County Swimming Pool

BROWNSTOWN, Pa. —

Neighbors found a 3-year-old girl floating in their swimming pool at their home on Hall Street in Brownstown Tuesday morning.

West Hills Police said those neighbors began CPR immediately and ultimately saved her life.

Detective Sgt. George Muslin said the toddler somehow got out of her home with a diaper bag, walked two houses down to the neighbor's pool, pried open the gate and somehow got into the pool.

The mother told police she laid her daughter down to sleep and fell asleep as well.

Emergency crews arrived at the pool and took her to the hospital. Police said she will be taken to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh for further testing, but should be all right.

Police said the incident was an accident. No charges will be filed.

Sgt. Muslin wants people to take extra precautions when it comes to pools. Muslin said in a split second these situations could end in tragedy.

Pool companies have special ladders, gates and even alarm systems that can warn owners when someone enters the pool.
