Tornado May Have Caused Damage In Jefferson County

Jefferson County is one of the counties included in on the governor's disaster list, and investigators there are still trying to determine if Tuesday's severe storms included a tornado.

The jury is still out if a tornado damaged a handful of homes and other property in Washington and Winslow townships.

Residents reported seeing a funnel cloud touch down early Tuesday afternoon, and the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning because of storm rotation picked up on radar.

It is still unclear if a tornado actually occurred, or if the damage was caused by a microburst or other high winds.

The National Weather Service plans to be in the area Wednesday to assess the damage and try to determine the cause.
