Traffic Stop Yields Over $267,000 In Cash

A routine traffic stop in Somerset County yielded traces of drugs and over $267,000 in cash.

Ebrahim Mansouri of Ontario was stopped in a tractor trailer around 10 a.m. Wednesday by state police along the Somerset County Turnpike.

During that stop, Sgt. Tony Deluca said the trooper realized "something wasn't right."

DeLuca said Mansouri's truck didn't' have the proper registration on the outside. When the trooper began questioning Mansouri about who owned the truck, his story changed several times and he didn't have a log book.

Mansouri agreed to let state police search his tractor trailer, and authorities discovered over $267,000 in cash as well as traces of drugs.

"We ran different samples using an ion scan in the vehicle that showed there was heroin inside the vehicle at one time," DeLuca said, adding that there were also high levels of cocaine on the money.

Mansouri remains in the Cambria County Prison in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement because he is from Canada and is accused of committing a crime in the U.S.

He was expected to be arraigned in federal court in Johnstown later on Wednesday.

Officials said Mansouri's truck will be sold. The money from the sale will be combined with the cash found in the truck, then 80 percent of the total will go into the Pennsylvania State Police general fund.
