Train Derails

Allegheny County —

Some Pittsburgh area roads closed today, and about 200 people had to be evacuated , after thirteen cars on a Northfolk Southern train derailed in Allegheny County. Several of the cars ended up in the Allegheny River, leaking an unknown amount of corrosive chemical used in steelmaking. No injuries were reported, and a Department of Environmental Protection representative said no major environment impact was expected.
