PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. —
Eric Santiago told WJAC-TV that he and his mother were just getting ready to move their cars Thursday night when they heard a tree branch outside come crashing down right on top of both of their vehicles.
Santiago was quick to admit that he just doesn't know exactly how it happened. But he believes a lightning bolt may have brought down the massive tree branch.
It happened around the same time a strong line of thunderstorms rolled through the Punxsutawney area. But Santiago said it just wasn't windy enough to bring the branch down.
Family members said they've had concerns about the tree for years, but they never thought something like this could happen. They're just grateful the branch didn't fall onto their house.
Eric Santiago said he is concerned that the rest of this tree could come down, since there are cracks in the trunk leading right down to the ground.
