ROCKHILL, Pa. —

Concerned business owners and non-profit organizers met Thursday evening about misinformation and confusion spreading after one group announced that it would no longer offer train rides on a historic railroad.

The East Broad Top Preservation Group said it’s three-year lease ended with the East Broad Top Railroad and that it could no longer offer regularly-scheduled steam excursions.

Bonnie Hiles manages The Doctors’ Inn near Rockhill and told 6News that her business is hurting, even though other summer are still scheduled.

"Business has been good and it's been building, but this year has already been a bit slower because the EBT has closed,” said Hiles. "I have no reservations for this weekend, and by now, I always have reservations for every weekend in June.”

Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau Executive Director Matt Price told 6News that it’s still unclear if steam excursions will return next year, but that there are still other historic attractions in Rockhill and Orbisonia.

"We wanted to make sure that people are aware that this attraction, the Rockhill Trolley Museum, is still open and operating on the weekends, even though the East Broad Top Railroad will not be running their excursions,” said Price.

Rockhill Trolley Museum President Joel Salomon said they just started selling tickets for trolley rides online and that they are looking for new ways to get the word out that they are open and running every weekend through October.

"We do all these things as volunteers and preserve these old electric trolleys so that folks can come out and take a ride in the past,” said Salomon.
