Troopers: 2 Teens Raped Along Jefferson County Train Tracks

No Arrests Made In Case, No Description Of Attacker Released

SYKESVILLE, Pa. —

State police have confirmed to WJAC-TV that an investigation continues into an incident in Jefferson County where two girls reported being raped.

Police said a 13-year-old girl from DuBois and a 14-year-old girl from Sykesville were sexually assaulted by an unidentified man in Sykesville Borough on Saturday night.

Police said the girls were on the railroad tracks near Station Street when the incidents happened.

Investigators said the man fled the scene after the assaults occurred.

Jill Hazuda told WJAC-TV that speculation and concern about the assaults have been swirling around the quiet borough of 1,200 residents.

“I was shocked; at first I didn’t believe it. It’s a small town; you usually don’t hear things like that going on. When it was confirmed, I was upset because I think I know the one girl and it’s very upsetting to hear,” said Hazuda. “I work at the store here and people come in and we all know everybody pretty much. I know all of the kids and they come in and buy candy. It’s very upsetting to think that anybody would do something that is horrendous to any child.”
