Trouble For Airline Travelers

Cambria County —

The flight from the Johnstown Cambria County Airport to Dulles International was added just a few months ago. But if US Air does what it plans, the flight will be short lived. Right now, there are roughly 5 passengers on the flight everyday for a plane that can seat roughly 30. According to airport officials, travelers have to use it or lose it. Community leaders and airport officials say they will continue talks with the airline. Community talks are also underway for more airport promotion.

Joe McKelvey, the Airport Director, tells Channel 6 News, "For people that have been driving to Washington for the last 10 to 15 years, it is tough to start putting them on an airplane and expecting them to fly down and back. It could happen in time if fares were right, but in a few months? Time is tough."

The Dulles flight is expected to be grounded by the beginning of October.
