Truck Rollover Snarls Traffic

A tractor-trailer rollover snarled traffic on Interstate 80 for several hours Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred just east of the Clearfield Exit 120. Both eastbound lanes were closed while crews cleaned up the scene.

Officials said the truck was traveling east when it rolled over for an unknown reason. The truck was carrying a large metal shipping container. When crews first arrived, they were unsure as to the contents of the container.

Traffic was detoured while crews worked at the scene, which cause major rush hour delays. State Routes 879 and 322 were bumper-to-bumper and slow-moving.

The traffic made it difficult for those trying to get to the mall and commercial district areas of Lawrence Township. During that time, rescuers also responded to a minor accident along that detour route.

The interstate was re-opened by 11 a.m.
