Two Area Communities To Raise Taxes

Ebensburg officials will raise property taxes

for the first time in six years because they say they need to keep

up with rising health insurance costs. Ebensburg Borough Council

this week approved a two-and-a-half mill real estate tax increase

to fund its 2004 operating budget of two-point-seven (m) million

dollars. The tax increase will cost the average homeowner about 21

dollars a year.

Just north of Cambria County's seat, Carrolltown officials will

also increase taxes there, costing the average home owner about 18

dollars a year.
