Two candy manufacturers, Gardners and McIntyre Candies, said their products are not affected by the current voluntary peanut butter recall.

"In no way is it connected to our operations. It's a different company, it's even in a different state," Sam Phillips, president of Gardners Candies said. "There's no connection what-so-ever and we're thankful everything is fine with Gardners."

Both Gardners and McIntyre's are approaching their Valentine's Day and Easter peak season.

The Peanut Corporation of America announced a voluntary nationwide recall of their produced produced in Georgia Jan. 13. The company says there's potential that their peanut butter and peanut paste products are contaminated with salmonella.

Those products were distributed to institutions, food services industries, and private label food companies in 24 states, including Pennsylvania.

There have been seven deaths in America, reportedly connected to the recalled products.

Don Ruggery, co-owner of McIntyre's Candies said " We've printed out a guidance for our cashiers to over with our customers when they come in. Obviously our message is the peanut butter products we use come from ConAgra Corporation they're available to consumers and their products have not been affected by the problem."

Peter Pan peanut butter was recalled in 2007 after the country's first salmonella outbreak. The Ruggery family said they're 100% comfortable with the brand. They went back to Peanut Butter once the salmonella source was found and tests were preformed to ensure the best quality.
