2 truck drivers taken to hospital after crash on Interstate 80

By Brittany Boyer

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A portion of Interstate 80 was detoured Thursday morning following a crash near mile-marker 90.

Firefighters told 6 News the crash happened around 8:35 a.m.

Officials said there was a fender bender further eastbound that was slowing traffic.

Firefighters said that one truck began to slow down, when a second truck hit the back end and jack kniffed.

Officials said one truck was a car carrier that was not hauling any cars.  The other tractor trailer was hauling steel.

Police said that both drivers were taken to DuBois Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Firefighters said a car also received minor damages.

Jefferson County EMA director, Tracy Zents told 6 News a cleanup crew would be arriving on scene.

Officials said 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled.

"The only hazard that is posed from it is to the environment and if it gets into any waterways. That's why we take precaution right off the bat.  To stop the flow of it, and to get it cleaned up as quickly as possible," Zents said.

The Department of Environmental Protection will be on scene later this morning and this afternoon.
