UPDATE: One Dead After Train Hits SUV In Somerset County

SOMERSET, Pa. —

One person is dead after she drove her SUV into the path of an oncoming train in Somerset County.

It happened at the intersection of Stoystown and Pleasant Ave. near Family Video in Somerset around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The train hit the SUV on the driver's side, killing the driver. The Somerset County Coroner says the driver was the only person in the vehicle.

A Somerset Borough Police Officer saw it happen. The officer said the signal lights were working.

Neighbors told WJAC-TV News the conductor blew his horn.

The intersection has a history of similar accidents and neighbors said there have been three in the last year.

3/27 UPDATE: Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller said Anna Simpson died of her extensive injuries after the crash.
