US Airways flight diverted to Centre Co. after smoke reported inside plane

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. —





A US Airways flight headed for Philadelphia was diverted to Centre County on Monday because there was smoke inside the plane.

The plane was traveling from Buffalo, N.Y., and made a safe emergency landing at the University Park Airport, according to the airport's website.

The airport reported that an indicator light on the control panel in the cockpit came on. The airport director confirmed to 6 News that smoke was inside of the plane.

There were no injuries, according to emergency personnel. Officials told 6 News that there was one passenger on board, but it was not immediately clear if there were five or six crew members on board at the time.


According to the US Airways website, the flight number was 3564. The airport's website said the plane is currently being assessed for any malfunctions.
