U.S. Dept. of Education To Review Actions Of Penn State

By Nick Ruffner

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —

A review of Penn State University's campus security programs by the U.S. Department of Education starts Monday.

The review will focus on the university's compliance with the Clery Act.

That's a 21-year-old rule that requires universities to report crimes that occur on campus.

The Department of Education can impose civil penalties for violations and can ban universities from certain federal student aid programs.
