UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. —

Penn State University was slapped with a lawsuit Friday from one of Jerry Sandusky's victims.

Many victim advocate groups said Penn State put its reputation and economic interests ahead of protecting the children who were preyed on by Sandusky.

A young man known as Victim 1 in Sandusky's trial is suing Penn State.

Victim 1 said top officials deliberately decided to not report Sandusky to authorities and put the safety of children at risk.

Sandusky is awaiting sentencing after he was convicted in June on 45 counts of sexual abuse.

The university had no comment.
