Voters In Alleghenies Give Their Say On Elections

Centre County —

Voters have a variety of concerns as they get ready to head to the polls to cast a ballot in next week's mid-term election. But, the one thing that seems to come up again and again among those we talked to is a call for change.

Many voters are talking about cleaning house this election.

“I would vote for Lynn Swann for one simple reason. He has no political experience,” says voter Al Matlack.

Matlack says he is fed up with the way politicians in Harrisburg are running things and he is not alone. Other voters say they haven't forgotten about the pay raise that lawmakers voted for.

“I think the incumbents have had their chance. It's time for some new blood in there,” says fellow voter Frank Ravella.

The dissatisfaction voters are expressing isn't only toward local politicians. Some want to see a shake up in Washington as well, saying that everything from the War in Iraq to the scandal involving former Congressman Mark Foley is making them lose confidence in government.

“I am voting for Swann for Governor and Casey for the U.S. Senate, so I am splitting the ticket. Yes, it's time for a house cleaning,” adds Matlack.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 7th.
