Warm Weather Blamed For Low Ski Resort Turnout

Friday's warm temperatures are being blamed for a low turnout at local ski resorts.

James Gauthier, vice president of operations for Blue Knob Four Seasons Resort, said his management team was expecting a higher turnout but he suspects the warm weather is keeping many people away.

Gauthier said that although the next couple of days will bring warmer weather, the resort is anticipating a high turnout through New Years. He also said the economy is keeping many people away.

"I think a lot of people aren't spending money to go out west," Gauthier said. "Our reservations are starting to increase also through the future to the January, February time frame."

Right now 24 of the 31 slopes at Blue Knob are open.
