Water Main Breaks In Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

The Johnstown Water Authority told WJAC that a water line broke around the newly updated Coopersdale Bridge.

Water began spilling onto the roadway about 6:30 Wednesday evening, shutting off water for most of the surrounding communities.

Officials said the recent bridge construction triggered the break, and that some areas are still without water.

Officials also said that the water could be discolored for a while because of high pressure stripping iron and manganese off the pipe.

They told WJAC that the water is safe, and boiling is not needed.
