Water Supply Could Be In Danger After Fish Kill

HOMER CITY, Pa. —

One local area's drinking water could be in jeopardy after fish are found dead in a stream in the Alleghenies.

Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection is trying to figure out why 1,000 fish died in a four-mile stretch of the Big Yellow Creek in Indiana County on Tuesday.

Officials said they are worried because the stream supplies water to Homer City and other nearby communities.

Officials said they are stunned because recent water tests came back normal.

More tests are being conducted, but the results won't be back for at least two weeks.
