What To Expect Traveling

Johnstown —

As we get closer to Christmas more people are traveling. In fact, this Christmas will be especially busy because the holiday falls on the weekend. But Channel 6 News is already looking out to wherever you're headed.

Whether you're taking the old fashioned route on the highway or trucking your luggage through the train station or airport, you need to be ready.

Rob Miller is flying between Missouri and Pennsylvania for Christmas. He tells Channel 6 News, "They make you take your boots off and check inside your shoes. Anything in your pockets comes out. If you get there early enough it is not a big deal though."

Lauren Bucci is traveling with her family this Christmas. She says, "Gas is really high but my parents pay for it so I don't worry about it that much."

Tricia Trevarrow says she has, "no worries. [Im] just having fun with the kids."

The Transportation Safety Administration now lets you take scissors and small tools on the plane. Be patient though. You and your luggage might be subject to another search, even after the x-ray machine. Getting to the airport early means an hour or two.

A lack of construction should help you keep moving on state roads. PennDot says there are very little cones and barrels to slow you down.

A representative of PennDot says, You will notice cones and such in the Route 22 Mundys Corner area but they're not actively doing any construction at this time."

Another aspect that could affect your trip is the weather. Be sure to watch the Channel 6 Severe Weather Team to see how conditions are where you're going.
