Winter storm over, weekend snow possible

By WJAC Web Staff

As people in central Pennsylvania dig out from Wednesday’s winter storm, Severe Weather Team 6 meteorologists are looking at another potential snow storm this weekend.

Meteorologist Josh Fosbrink said clouds will begin to arrive with the next weather system on Friday night, bringing snow potentials of several inches on Saturday.

The lingering effects of this week’s storm remain however.  All winter storm warnings expired Thursday morning, but wind advisories remain in effect for Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Huntingdon and Somerset Counties.

Fosbrink said gusts could reach 45 mph, blowing snow over roadways.  In addition to the winds, chances for snow showers continued Thursday, with the potential of an additional inch accumulation in the Laurel Highland Mountains.

Most people in central Pennsylvania woke to find an inch or two additional snow on top of the already 6 – 12 inches from Wednesday afternoon.

Stay tuned to 6 News for updates on the winter storm.
