Woman accused of stealing money from wrestling team

By Gary Sinderson

PHILIPSBURG, Pa —

A woman trusted with collecting money for the Philipsburg-Osceola wrestling team is now charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from that fund.

6 News obtained court documents that detailed the charges filed against Teresa Horton of Bellefonte.

She is accused of stealing over $37,000 over a three year period while she served as the treasurer of the Philipsburg-Osceola wrestling booster club.

Police say Horton admits to stealing the money, but disputes the amount taken.

Horton told police she began taking the money because her family was in danger of losing their home to foreclosure.

Horton was removed as the booster club treasurer in October of 2010.

She is free on bail.
