Woman Found Guilty For Toddler's Drowning Death

Blair County —

Little Hunter Delasko was outside with his father's former girlfriend, Susan Newkirk, when he fell in a rain swollen creek. Newkirk maintained her innocence saying she can't swim and even if it was her own child, she would have not jumped in that water to save him.

The Prosecution argued she stopped Hunter from falling in once that day, then didn't move him away from the fierce waters, so she knowingly put him in danger. Several witnesses took the stand testifying Newkirk had no emotion the day Hunter died.

Hunter's father, Thomas Reffner, has already plead guilty to endangering the welfare of a person and will most likely be sentenced to probation. Newkirk could face up to nine months in jail. Her sentencing is to be in late September.
