A passerby discovered the remains near the industrial park about 50 yards off of Route 219.
Investigators said they have reason to believe the woman was traveling from Raleigh, N.C., and said her body had been in Somerset County for about six months.
The woman, who had not been identified as of Friday afternoon, was still clothed in a black jacket and jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
