World Record Pumpkin Grown Here

NORTHERN CAMBRIA —

It took almost all day, but the result was jack-o-lantern perfection. Resident Larry Checkon is showing off his1,496 pound world record pumpkin and jack-o-lantern. The carver, who traveled in from Oregon, says the pumpkin's design is homegrown.

Some patrons here earlier actually posed. They actually posed. They said use me. That nose is gonna work, stay there. Some of these local residents you might know, says carver Scott Cully.

This isn't the first world record pumpkin the Checkon's have produced. Larry's wife Gerry had the worlds biggest pumpkin in 1999.
