Altoona's Gehret Wins National Event

NEW YORK CITY —

Altoona Area High School senior Brady Gehret is proving he will be a national force to be reckoned with on the track.

Gehret won the 300 meter dash at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory in New York City on Saturday.

His time of 33.51 seconds was the sixth fastest time by a high school athlete in United States history.

To make matters better for Gehret, sprint legend Carl Lewis presented the Mountain Lion senior with his gold medal.

Gehret, who signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to run track at Penn State next year, already owns the fastest high school time in the 400 meter dash this year.
