Astros Hand Bucs Another Loss

(Pittsburgh-AP) -- Richard Hidalgo's three-run double in the ninth was the difference in Houston's 6-to-3 win at Pittsburgh. Hidalgo's tie-breaking hit sailed just out of the reach of right fielder Rob Mackowiak, and it gave the Astros their tenth straight win over the Pirates.

Bucs closer Mike Williams retired the first two hitters in the ninth before allowing two walks and a single. Jose Vizcaino also had three R-B-I's while going 3-for-5. Pete Munro tossed a hitless eighth to improve to 3-and-1. Billy Wagner struck out two in the ninth en route to his ninth save. Williams dipped to 0-and-2.
